WHAT DO WOMEN WANT?

THE GEM OF FEBRUARY
There is a story I heard a long time ago, one that left such a deep impression on me that I often found myself sharing it at gatherings. I was always curious about the answers to the question that runs through the entire tale:
What do women want?
So, with Valentine’s Day approaching, I want to share it here as well. And I won’t write the answer on purpose—because I’d love to hear yours in the comments!
(I’d especially love for my dear male followers on this platform to muster the courage to share their thoughts in the comments, while the women can simply watch and enjoy. Believe it or not, there is a correct answer—because it was the answer that saved the life of a King from an ancient Kingdom. And in the present day, whenever I’ve asked this question to men I’ve met—men who were intrigued by the story—only one ever gave the right, universal answer, the kind befitting a King.)
If you’re bold enough to write your answer in the comments, tonight I will reward you with the truth.
So, let’s begin…
A long time ago, two kingdoms were at war—and, as conflicts were settled back then, their Kings agreed to resolve the matter in single combat.
The King who emerged victorious decided to spare his opponent’s life—but only on one condition: The defeated King had three days to return with the answer to a single question:
What do women want?
The defeated King thought, Oh, that’s easy! I’ll just travel throughout the kingdom and ask every woman I meet what she wants, and I’ll have my answer in no time.
And so, he set off, going from city to city, asking woman after woman the same question.
One wanted a husband and children. Another desired expensive dresses. A third dreamed of becoming a singer or an actress. A fourth wanted something else entirely—just like every other woman he encountered.
“Oh, dear God… This is an impossible mission!” the King thought to himself, as the second day drew to a close and he was nowhere near finding one definitive answer.
Just then, a noblewoman approached him and told him about an old witch who lived deep in the forest at the edge of the kingdom.
“She may be the only person who can help you,” the woman said.
The King was desperate, but he refused to give up—so he set off for the forest.
He found the witch quickly. She was sitting by a lake, looking as old and hideous as one could imagine.
She really is ugly, the King thought. But his life depended on her answer.
Without wasting time, he explained everything—why he was there and the question he needed answered.
The witch listened and then spoke:
“Take my hand and lead me to your kingdom. Make me your Queen. Marry me, and I will give you the answer that will save your life.”
The King, trapped with no other way out, accepted immediately and brought the witch back to his palace. His entire court and army were in shock when he announced that he was marrying the old and wretched hag.
After the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds retired to the royal chambers. The time had come for the revelation—the truth that would save the King’s life.
The witch turned to him and asked:
“Would you rather have me be beautiful by day or by night?”
The King pondered his dilemma:
If she is beautiful by day, everyone will envy me, and I’ll have a wife I can proudly walk beside in my kingdom. But if she is beautiful by night… well, I will certainly enjoy our marital relations in quite a different way, won’t I?
And so, the King gave a special answer—one that was not only the key to saving his life but also the truth itself.
Kings, what would your answer be?
