The Egg has always been a symbol of Rebirth on Earth. And Easter is originally a pagan tradition that lives on today thanks to the great empires of history. Christians celebrate Christ’s ascension to Heaven, the ancient Egyptians celebrated the return of the god Osiris among the living thanks to Isis’ skill and magic, through which she dwelled in both worlds, the Upper and the Lower, thus helping both herself and Osiris transcend Death — which is precisely the message of Jesus for this greatest Christian sacred holiday.

That’s why the egg. New Life. Beginning.

And for me, as an Alchemist of routine, the most beautiful preparation for this holiday is the kitchen magic of dyeing eggs with natural colors. Onion skins, wine, vinegar, plants… The kind of Art nature can create always sweeps me off my feet!

But the flight of delight comes when we realize that our outer world is a replica of our inner world — a true decoupage through which the doors of Eternal Life have already been slightly opened to us.
